1. Overview
Accurate metadata is critical for proper distribution, discovery, and royalty collection across all streaming platforms. These Metadata Guidelines outline the formatting standards required for all releases distributed through Zaventra Music Group.
2. Artist Name
- Must match the artist name as it appears across all platforms
- No excessive capitalization (e.g., use "John Smith" not "JOHN SMITH")
- No promotional text or special characters in the artist name field
- Guest artist names should use the "Artist1 feat. Artist2" format
- The artist name must not be misleading or impersonate another artist
3. Release Title
- Use proper capitalization (Title Case)
- No excessive punctuation, emojis, or special characters
- Do not include format indicators (e.g., "Single," "EP," "Album") in the title
- Do not include artist name in the title (unless it is part of the official title)
- Do not include language indicators or translation in the title
4. ISRC Codes
- Each track must have a unique ISRC code
- ISRCs must be 12 characters: country code (2) + registrant code (3) + year (2) + designation code (5)
- ISRCs must be assigned before release submission
- Reuse of ISRCs across different tracks is prohibited
5. UPC/EAN Codes
- Each release must have a unique UPC (12-digit) or EAN (13-digit) code
- The UPC/EAN must be valid and pass checksum verification
- Each physical and digital release variant requires a unique code
6. Genre Classification
- Select the most accurate primary genre from the approved genre list
- A secondary genre may be specified where supported
- Genre must accurately represent the musical style of the release
7. Release Date
- Must be set at least 14 days in the future for new releases
- Past dates are not permitted for new submissions
- Release date must be consistent across all versions of a release
8. Credits
- All credited individuals must have proper names or pseudonyms
- Roles must use standard industry terminology (Producer, Mixer, Mastering Engineer, etc.)
- Composers and publishers must be properly credited for publishing administration
9. Language and Territory
- Specify the primary language of the release content
- Content advisory ratings should be provided where applicable
- Explicit content must be properly tagged
